How I plan to get my WLE: Blog 1: Oct. 26:
I am at this moment looking for an internship for an architect. So far I have been looking for any type of connection I can find to get one. I have also been making calls to a lot of architectural companies and design groups, leaving my name, number and giving a brief description of what WLE is. The next step for me is following up on these phone calls, and making some more. I have also received a reliable connection to a lot of architects, through one of my mothers friends. I have also widened my search by also looking for any internship also involving art and design.

The company that is my WLE workplace mainly serves women looking for hair designs and hair accessories whether it be normal, or a special formal occasion. How it benefits me is that it increases my ability to use Microsoft Excel to take data. I cannot Identify any strengths or weaknesses yet because I was mainly there for my Introduction and did not stay very long.

Blog 4: Friday Dec. 10, Leadership skills
I believe so far at my internship I have been using the leadership skill "Complete Projects Effectively". Specifically this week I demonstrated this leadership skill when I was printing and cutting information cards for my mentor. I was able to keep track of how many cards i printed and how much more I needed to print. afterward i was able to cut and sort them in an organized matter. I believe most skills I am using at my internship I have already had to use at Impact. Some skills I developed at impact that I am utilizing with my internship are collaborating productively, such as when i am working with other employees on a project at the workplace. I can describe my role as a student being different from being an intern because as an intern there is no warning, and there is no such thing as late or I am not going to do it. i guess you can say that the stakes are higher.

Blog 5: Winter Break, Hours and Project
Due to the fact that I was not able to get hours early on, because i did not have an internship, i decided to make up for some hours in winter break. the first time i visited during break I was mostly in the office type documents. The second time I came there was not a lot of office work so I just observed costumer service. This means I watched as my mentor assisted costumer in the store. I currently have 30 hours logged into my time sheet. Though this means I am five hours behind the average, my schedule works out so that by the end of my last day I will have 75 hours. Currently I am working on the observations of my project, but i believe there are many resources that I could use at my intern facilities that can help me. I am also still in the thinking/brainstorming phase of my essential question and thesis.

Blog 7: How is my WLE project going
This week for my WLE project this week I found a computer outside school on which I can create the actual flyer. while i was at my Internship I was actually able get one of their actual advertisement card which has a concept I can base my flyer on. I plan on getting a layout of my flyer, get picture, and addition info that should be included on the project over the next three weeks. Then in the weeks following exhibition night I will try to put up flyers in the hallways of my school. As for my hours , on the last friday at my internship i will have exactly 75 total hours.

The Company in which i am an intern is called Hair Diva distributors. It is a small business where they specialize in selling and maintaining Virgin Indian hair. It is a located on Hesperian blvd. in San Leandro near Bayfair Bart. when you enter the store on the left hand side is the front register where you can find the weaves and hair care products. On the right hand side is the hair salon, restroom, and sitting area. In the back room you have the computers, the refrigerator, and several other items. to me it is like the employee lounge.
Including me, at this time their are five people currently working in the store. Though I do not know anyones highest level of education of anyone there, I know that their are three Hair stylist and I believe they are searching for more. In my opinion, for a small business it is a very nice interior designed and well organized.

Blog 10: My last day at WLE
For my last day at my internship my main objective for the day was to take all the expenses for the company over a period of months, and record them in an online account. A lesson in myself I found by looking back at this process is to be open to all opportunities even if you were not looking for it. Something that I learned About the business world is that it take a lot of repetition to run a business. I plan to be complete with my WLE project soon, and I have completed 75 hours of interning. I also plan on seeing my mentor at the exhibition. If your are reading this right now I would like to say thank you Anne, you saved me from failing this project and it has been a pleasure working for your company.
